Srimathi Gangineni Kalyani Government Degree College, Vinukonda was established on 11 September 1980 to meet the higher education needs of the academically backward Palnadu region. Located on the outskirts of Vinukonda, the college serves as the only Government Degree College catering to the academic aspirations of rural youth in the region. Initially named Madala Satyanarayana and Manne Rathamma Government Degree College, it was later renamed in honor of its donor and former Principal Srimati GangineniKalyani (Late).
Spread across a 38-acre eco-friendly campus, the college provides a conducive learning environment with spacious classrooms, well-equipped science and computer laboratories, and a library housing over 13,500 books along with a reading room. The campus also features a virtual laboratory, English Language Lab, modern gymnasium, Jawahar Knowledge Centre (JKC), and a Skill Hub that equips students with skills required for the present job market.
The institution was recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the University Grants Commission in 1994. Committed to quality education, the college has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with ‘B’ Grade in the first and second cycles (2006 & 2015) and ‘B++’ Grade with a CGPA of 2.80 in the third cycle, reflecting its sustained efforts towards academic excellence and institutional development.
The college strives to provide inclusive, skill-oriented, and value-based education, empowering rural youth with knowledge, employability skills, and ethical values in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020.
